Kuusama - Finnish 100% sheep wool yarn 95g/385m, color: Sea Kings Cologne. Small batch!

Kuusama is a Finnish 100% sheep wool yarn. The skein has 95 grams and approximately 385 meters of 2-ply fingering weight yarn. The recommended needle size is 2.0 mm - 3.5 mm or depending on how tightly you knit and the purpose.

The yarn is 100% Finnish sheep wool and is spun in Finland. 75% of the wool is pure finnsheep wool and 25% is a mixture of wool from different sheep breeds. The yarn is hand-dyed at Minri's studio.

Kuusama is only slightly processed and has a rustic feel. The yarn may contain small amounts of plant material. This is normal. If you wish, you can remove the pieces of hay while knitting. The yarn may also have knots due to the production process.

The finished knit is warm, durable and does not pill easily. The yarn is well suited for sweaters or mittens, for example. Kuusama can also be used for weaving.

Minri yarns are dyed in batches of approximately 500g and the colour tones may vary between dyeing batches. To ensure an even knitting result, I recommend knitting in stripes: Knit alternately 1 layer from one skein and 1 layer from the other skein.

For finished knits, airing is usually sufficient for maintenance. However, if washing becomes necessary, wash the knit by hand in lukewarm water and use wool detergent. Small amounts of colour may come off in the first wash. This is normal.

The skein size of Kuusama varies somewhat. However, each skein is at least 95g and the product is priced according to this size. The range is 95g-105g / skein. A small batch of this yarn base will be available for sale in spring 2026. 

The Sea Kings Cologne is a medium-dark sea green. The shades have hints of emerald green and pine green, as well as a hint of turquoise. The color has a beautiful, delicate variation between different shades, which makes the knitted surface vivid.
